Boardwalk Empire Season 3 Episode 1 Premiere There was lots of nakedness this . And pigs. Andy and Jason leads the sheriff’s department to the barn right when the naked Sam fighting is going down, and then kills Bud Dearborne after he raises a shovel and yells, “Humans rule.” Sookie and Jason tries to find out what happened to their parents, Jessica and Hoyt are reunited in a way neither of them thought possible, and Sam and Luna discover the problems that come with shifting.
Last week it seemed that had jumped the shark, but this week we return to some sort of normality, well, what passes for normal in Bon Temps anyway. Jason talks Sookie out of trying to purge her faery powers, and instead they perform a ritual to try and find the vampire that killed their parents. Boardwalk Empire Season 3 Episode 1 Premiere Of course this does not quite go as planned, and although Sookie gets to see the events of the night that her parents died, she also gets to bond with a vampire, then be threatened by his ghostly presence. Nothing ever seems to go smoothly for Sookie, and although the vampire that killed her parents seems to have a name none of us has heard before – as yelled by the lovely Lara Pulver in flashback – this does not mean that the show has run out of surprises.
Meanwhile, Luna shifts into Sam and cannot change back, to such an extent that she really believes she is dying. It is great to see Sam Trammell playing an effeminate version of his character, and he even manages to capture some of Luna in there as well. Boardwalk Empire Season 3 Episode 1 Premiere Bravo! Hoyt’s new vampire murdering friends capture Jessica and try to get him to kill her, but instead he helps her to escape. She is eventually rescued by Sam, Andy and SamLuna but Hoyt is nowhere to be seen. Hoyt has not forgiven Jessica but it seems pretty clear that she will still go running after him to save him.
Lafayettehas escaped from Jesus’s family who seemed so intent on killing him and, when Arlene turns up at his house asking for help with terry, he reverts to the sassy Southern Lafayettethat we know and love. The intervention with Terry does not go as planned either; instead of a fake ceremony to try and convince Terry to come home, the spirit of the woman Boardwalk Empire Season 3 Episode 1 Premiere he killed appears to Lafayette. She will only lift the curse of the Ifrit if one of them kills the other. Lafayette’s reunion with Jesus’s spirit seems to have given him his groove back, he is really at his best when he is dismissive and funny, and it is great to see this Lafayette return. The ceremony was never going to go smoothly, and it is going to be interesting to see how it pans out. It is pretty clear who is going to win out in a fight to the death, but still manages to surprise us after five s.
Finally, the vampires at the Authority have come up with a way to return to their vampiric roots, but – after Godric appeared to him at the blood orgy – Eric is trying to convince them that this path is wrong. This is going to end up messily as well, but the f Boardwalk Empire Season 3 Episode 1 Premiere act that the show has pulled back from the ridiculous appearance of Lillith last week means that this storyline has returned to the realm of the believable again.
In all, this of could well be the best of the so far. The story is still moving forward, but each thread is clearly defined and easy to follow. As well as this, the silly elements have been reigned in slightly and the show benefits from being heightened, but not over the top. After a slow and slightly disappointing start to the , seems to be finally heading in a strong direction and ramping up to a fantastic finale.
We’re headed into the last handful of s of , with “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” set to air this Sunday night. The clips we Boardwalk Empire Season 3 Episode 1 Premiere have to show you give us some idea of what’s going on with Sookie as she tries to figure out what happened to her parents, and what’s going on with Bill and Eric, who seem to have differing opinions on the Lilith situation. The first clip from 9 has Eric and Bill talking in private. It seems Eric is under the impression that Bill’s Team Lilith attitude is all a ruse. I’ll admit, it’s hard to tell how genuine he is, but based on this clip, it seems like he might have been serious about destroying the factories, which would force vampires to feed off humans…
Eric mentioning “what’s in that blood” is an interesting point. Was it spiked with something to make the Authority thing they were picturing Lilith? And here we learn something interesting about the murder Boardwalk Empire Season 3 Episode 1 Premiere of Sookie’s parents… This probably explains the random re-appearance of the former Bon Temps sheriff, Bud Dearborne, who’s now spending his retirement time cheating on his wife and seems very uninterested in having anything to do with local law enforcement these days. Will he be willing to take time off from experimenting with male enhancement ointments to help Sookie?
Where did we leave off? The vampires were turning the streets of Bon Temps into a good Boardwalk Empire Season 3 Episode 1 Premiere old fashioned rave, and Sookie was trying to use up her fairyness. This week, it seems we are on our way to resolving both of these issues. The first preview clip for this week’s has Sookie talking to the fairies again. From the looks of it, though no one seems to know who killed her parents, there is a way to find out. This should lead to a supernatural scavenger hunt over the next few s, and inevitably tie into some other plot thread somehow. Perhaps someone from the vamp Authority was hunting her. Maybe it will be a Boardwalk Empire Season 3 Episode 1 Premiere massive curveball, and Salome will turn out to be Lilith, and she was looking for fairy blood.
The second clip is just more vampire tripping scenes. The vamps are stumbling about, but Eric seems moderately collected, like he is gradually coming to his senses. Perhaps the visit from ghost Godric helped sober him up, and now he’s realizing what they are doing is wrongThings have gotten just a teensy bit tense in the -verse. Everybody Wants to Rule the World sees armed-to-the- Premiere teeth stand offs at Merlotte’s, a makeshift KKK causing supe-havoc and the beginnings of Civil War. And Bon Temps used to be such a nice town…
With the revelation that the Point Break Vigilantes are in fact the Ku Klux Klan’s younger, dumber brother, run by a bunch of illiterate rednecks and headed by ex-Sheriff Dearborne and his mistress - Bon Temps’ least appropriately named woman, comes the Boardwalk Empire Season 3 Episode 1 Premiere end of the threat to the local supes. And with it, very nearly the end of Hoyt. It’s been said before, but it’s well worth saying again – that boy just cannot catch a break.
